London Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3,4 & 5

Heathrow is the busiest airport in the UK and the third busiest airport in the world (as of from 2012) in terms of total passenger traffic, handling more international passengers than any other airport on the planet.

With over 200,000 passengers a day and 76,000 staff employed on-site to service them , its 700,000 square meters of terminal space requires the very best in security solutions and emergency response technology. The safety logistics for this international airport are staggering, a challenge that we have found solutions for since 2003.

Cameo systems has worked with the management and security teams at BAA to design, create, install and maintain a sophisticated voice alarm system with a multilingual passenger announcement functionality that activates in each and/or all of the airport’s five terminals in case of a general emergency or negative environmental scenario.

Linked with a fibre optic network for communications and control infrastructure, the system offers PLC automated messages and paging broadcasts, and, due to the size of the facility, we have used over 10 km of fibre optic network cable link, giving us total control either locally or from a central position.
